Senior Center Activity Coordinator – Part Time

Butts County is seeking a Part-Time Senior Center Activity Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting in planning and implementing daily, weekly and monthly activities/life enrichment programming for the Butts County Senior Center.

We are looking for a dependable, energetic person with well-developed customer service skills, who works with a minimum of supervision and exercises excellent independent judgment; speaks effectively and is attentive to detail.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in planning and leading daily program activities, including monthly calendar for daily activities, scheduling of speakers for monthly nutrition education presentations
  • Leads activities such as low-impact exercise, arts/crafts, Bridge/Bingo, cooking class etc
  • Assists in the recruitment of instructors/volunteers
  • Planning and operation of special annual programs and socials
  • Planning/oversight of group day and overnight trips and helps to ensure the safety of clients
  • Obtains feedback from the group about types of activities they enjoy and would like to try
  • Works together with other community groups/civic groups to recruit participants/volunteers and promote the center
  • Communicates accurate information relating to community resources for senior citizens and caregivers
  • Interacts and communicates with the public and other employees in a courteous and professional manner in person and on the telephone; maintains program participation records
  • Accurately communicates information to assigned supervisor in a timely and useful manner
  • Supervises volunteers and Instructors who assist with senior center activities
  • Promotes good working relationships with the public, businesses, and other community agencies with whom the center deals
  • Maintains confidentiality about information learned on the job
  • Drives van/bus when needed

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Experience in travel/coordinating group trips, activities work with older adults and community building is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions and instructions
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
