This office is responsible for all activities regarding voter registration and the conducting of elections for Butts County and the three municipalities. This office is overseen by the appointed board who in turn appoints a full time Director to manage the day-to-day operations of the department and oversee the elections.

The five Members of the Board of Elections and Registration are appointed by the County, who appoints two representatives, and the Cities of Jackson, Flovilla and Jenkinsburg, who each appoint one. Members serve four-year terms and are completely autonomous from the Board of Commissioners so that they may fairly and impartially perform their legal duties, one of which is to appoint the Director of Elections.

Brook Shreiner currently serves as the Director of Elections. She was appointed in 2021 and is the 3rd holder of the office.
