All citizens of Butts County are FREE to use any of the 7 recycling sites. 
NOTICE: If your vehicle does not have a Butts County tag, you may be asked to show proof of County citizenship. I.e.: driver’s license, utility bill or tax records.


*All sites are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day: open all other holidays.*

All Butts County Solid Waste Sites accept the following materials.

All items must be placed into the proper receptacle, the site attendant can direct you as to which one to use.

• Household waste
• Textiles* (linens, clothing, footwear, etc.)
• Newspapers/Magazines/Paper*
• Corrugated cardboard boxes*
• Aluminum Drink Cans/Scrap Metal*
• Plastics*
• Batteries* (small vehicle & lawn mower batteries only)
• “White Goods”* – Stoves, refrigerators (empty), water heaters, etc.

LOAD SIZE LIMIT

We cannot accommodate large loads. There is a limit of pick-up truck sized loads only (approximately 8′ x 3′).

  • Yard debris such as limbs, grass clippings and leaves can be dumped at the Butts County Inert Landfill located behind
    the Public Works Department at 1036 Brownlee Rd. You must get permission from the site attendant to enter the landfill. The
    landfill has the same hours as the Brownlee Road site.
  • Used Oil and petroleum products must be taken to the Public Works Department at 1036 Brownlee Road. Let
    an employee of the Public Works Department know you’re there to dump oil and they will direct you to the oil tank. The hours
    for this location are Monday-Friday 7AM-3:30PM.
  • Furniture, large appliances or any other items too heavy to lift over into an open top container are only accepted
    at the Brownlee Road site, the attendant can direct you where to put these items.

RESIDENTIAL HOUSEHOLD WASTE ONLY

  • We do NOT accept commercial waste or contracted dumping. Rental property/foreclosure cleanouts are considered commercial waste.
  • We do NOT accept construction materials or demolition waste even if it is coming from your residence and you are doing the work yourself.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT TIRES

As of January 1, 2019 we no longer accept tires. However, tires can be taken to Quality Tire Recycling for a fee.
