Director’s Message

Welcome to our page! Our department has a mission to enhance and improve the quality of life for our citizens and to make Butts County a great place to recreate and play. While our base of operations is the large and well-equipped Daughtry Park, we reach out across Butts County to offer programs that will appeal to all ages and demographics.

In athletics, we have the traditional organized sports of Baseball, Basketball, Football, Softball, Soccer and related sports activities. We also have a variety of venues including gymnasiums for indoor activities such as our growing Gymnastics and Tumbling programs, modern Tennis courts, Baseball, Softball and Football fiends as well as our newest venue, the Sam Johnson Soccer Complex. We will be adding more programs and opportunities to the public in the years ahead that will make our department truly shine in this region.

As of July 1, 2023, the Ida Ruth Taylor Senior Center will become a department of its own, under the directorship of Chrissy Crabtree. This modern facility for our older adults is open each weekday providing a variety of programs and activities for our seniors. Since moving into their current building in 2013, they have grown these programs tremendously and have been amazed at the response of our citizens to our center. Please look for their new page in the months ahead.
