E-911 Communications Officer

Butts County is looking for full-time E-911 Communication Officers. This position is responsible for responding to calls for services and dispatching support.

We are looking for a dependable, energetic person with well-developed customer service skills, who works with a minimum of supervision and exercises excellent independent judgment; speaks effectively and is attentive to detail.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answering, screening, categorizing and prioritizing 911 calls received
  • Responding to emergency calls
  • Determining location and nature of emergency
  • Dispatching appropriate emergency personnel in response to calls for service
  • Communicating with field units
  • Dispatching non-emergency support including animal control and public works
  • Operating a variety of communications equipment including radio consoles, telephones, and computer systems
  • Maintaining detailed call and radio logs
  • Recording appropriate information in GCIC and NCIC databases
  • Responding to requests for information and retrieving federal and state database information and messages
  • Conducting regular equipment and weather alert systems

Minimum Training & Experience:

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education, or a combination of education, experience and skills that meet the prerequisites of the position
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.
