E-911 Communications Officer
Butts County is looking for full-time E-911 Communication Officers. This position is responsible for responding to calls for services and dispatching support.
We are looking for a dependable, energetic person with well-developed customer service skills, who works with a minimum of supervision and exercises excellent independent judgment; speaks effectively and is attentive to detail.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Answering, screening, categorizing and prioritizing 911 calls received
 - Responding to emergency calls
 - Determining location and nature of emergency
 - Dispatching appropriate emergency personnel in response to calls for service
 - Communicating with field units
 - Dispatching non-emergency support including animal control and public works
 - Operating a variety of communications equipment including radio consoles, telephones, and computer systems
 - Maintaining detailed call and radio logs
 - Recording appropriate information in GCIC and NCIC databases
 - Responding to requests for information and retrieving federal and state database information and messages
 - Conducting regular equipment and weather alert systems
 
Minimum Training & Experience:
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education, or a combination of education, experience and skills that meet the prerequisites of the position
 - Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
 - Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.
