AEMT/Firefighter

Salary: $51, 077.98

Butts County Fire & Emergency Services is seeking dedicated and highly motivated AEMT/Firefighter to join our team. This position plays a vital role in protecting the lives, health, and safety of the citizens of Butts County by providing emergency medical care and fire protection.

The AEMT/Firefighter works on a 24/48 shift schedule and may operate on an ambulance or fire engine as needed. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for individuals who are committed to serving others, working as part of a team, and responding effectively in emergency situations.

The AEMT/Firefighter will:

• Provide emergency medical care for sick and injured individuals
• Provide fire protection and emergency response services to the citizens of Butts County
• Operate ambulances, fire engines, and emergency medical equipment within the limits of training and certification
• Administer treatment in accordance with physician direction, standing orders, EMS protocols, and departmental procedures
• Transport patients to and from hospitals and other healthcare facilities
• Complete required state, billing, and incident documentation
• Inspect equipment and ensure supplies are properly stocked and ready for service
• Clean and maintain emergency vehicles, equipment, stations, bays, and surrounding areas
• Provide ambulance coverage for athletic events and other public gatherings

Applicants Must Meet the Following Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Georgia AEMT certification/license meeting all applicable state requirements
• Current Basic Firefighter certification. Current CPR certification
• Completion of training in emergency medical care, fire science, or a related field
• Ability to maintain required annual certification hours for Georgia AEMT and firefighter certifications
• Valid Class F Georgia driver’s license
• Must not have a felony conviction within the ten (10) years prior to employment, as required by Georgia law

This position requires the ability to work effectively in physically demanding and stressful emergency situations. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, lifting and moving objects, climbing ladders, and operating equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.

Work may occur outdoors in dangerous or highly stressful conditions or inside burning structures and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, infectious diseases, dust, dirt, grease, and other hazards. Employees are required to use appropriate protective clothing and equipment.
