Public Works Mechanic II

The Butts County Public Works department is seeking to fill the position of Mechanic II. This position is responsible for mechanical repair and maintenance of County vehicles and equipment.

We are looking for a dependable individual who works with a minimum of supervision and exercise excellent independent judgment and attention to detail.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of County vehicles and heavy construction equipment including automobiles, trucks, bulldozers, motor graders, backhoes, tractors etc.
• Inspecting, adjusting, and replacing necessary units and parts
• Repairing, welding,  and overhauling major systems including engine, exhaust, electrical, transmission, hydraulic, and brake systems on vehicles and equipment
• Maintaining records of time and costs of work performed

Minimum Training & Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions and instructions
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and be willing to obtain CDL
