Home Delivered Meals Driver – Part Time

The purpose of the Home Delivered Meals Driver is to drive the Butts County Senior Center meal delivery vehicle and deliver meals to homebound clients.  The following duties are normal for the position.  The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the job if the work is similar, related, or logical assignment for this classification.  Other duties may be required as assigned.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Meets with Site Manager and confirms number of destinations and most efficient route
• Completes a pre-trip checklist for the delivery vehicle prior to each trip
• Assist with portioning and packaging meals for home delivery.
• Observes all safety rules and regulations when driving meals on wheels vehicle
• Completes daily reports as follows:
  • Makes notes and reports of any negative changes in the physical condition of each client and reports to Site Manager.
  • Makes notes and reports on delivery of meals.
  • Enters all trip information into vehicle logbook
• After each trip, removes all items and/or debris from seat and cleans the vehicle.
• After each use, cleans & prepares meal delivery containers for the next use.
• Makes notes and reports of any unsafe conditions at each household and reports to Site Manager.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions and instructions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record

Skills:

• Ability to work with elderly persons of varying backgrounds.
• Organizational skills: public relation skills as a team player; awareness of the importance of confidentiality.
• Serves as back up to other staff members as needed
• Performs other related duties as required
