A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF BUTTS COUNTY DEDICATING AND NAMING A T-BALL FIELD FOR EGAN JEFFCOAT; TO AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN TO SIGN THE RESOLUTION; TO AUTHORIZE THE CLERK OF THE 125TH SESSION TO ATTEST THE SIGNATURE AND FOR OTHER RELATED AND LAWFUL PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, Butts County is a duly created and validly existing political subdivision of the State of Georgia under the Constitution and laws of the state of Georgia and governed by the Butts County Board of Commissioners, said Board being legally and solely responsible under law for naming County facilities; and,

WHEREAS, on January 12, 2023, a series of tornadoes caused considerable damage to several Georgia counties, including Butts County, and resulted in the loss of life of Egan Jeffcoat, a five year old resident of Butts County, who became sole victim in Georgia who perished directly from the storms, now, therefore be it:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners hereby declares that the foregoing preamble and whereas provisions set forth hereinabove constitute, and shall be considered to be, substantive provisions of this Resolution and are hereby incorporated by reference into this provision; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners exercises its authority under OCGA 36-5-22.1(a)(1) and OCGA 36-9-2 and hereby designates a T-Ball field at the Butts County Parks and Recreation Department be named in his memory, with appropriate signage installed, and hereby authorizes the Chairman to sign this Resolution and for the Clerk of the 125th Session to attest all signatures; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption by the Butts County Board of Commissioners and that any and all resolutions in conflict with this Resolution shall be, and they are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed; and it is:
