Animal Services Kennel Attendant

Butts County Animal Services is seeking a compassionate and dependable Animal Services Kennel Attendant to assist with daily operations of the County’s animal shelter. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and humane treatment of animals housed at the shelter while supporting efficient animal control operations

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and respond to public inquiries
  • Intake and process new animals into the shelter
  • Prepare animal medical charts and administer vaccinations
  • Assist with euthanasia procedures in accordance with policy
  • Feed, water, exercise, bathe, and groom animals daily
  • Clean and sanitize kennels, shelter areas, and animal traps
  • Collect and properly dispose of animal waste
  • Maintain shelter grounds, including grass cutting and weed eating

The ideal candidate should have some knowledge of animal care standards and animal control practices; familiarity with County codes and ordinances (or ability to learn), basic computer and software skills, strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, and the ability to work compassionately with animals and the public. The work involves standing, walking, bending, lifting, and using tools. Exposure to noise, chemicals, machinery, contagious diseases, and outdoor weather conditions. Must be able to lift light to heavy objects and use protective equipment as required
