Butts County is seeking a qualified and experienced Elections Director to lead the Elections & Voter Registration Department. This position is responsible for planning, administering, and conducting all federal, state, and local elections in compliance with applicable laws while ensuring transparency, integrity, and public confidence in the electoral process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all election and voter registration operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local election laws and State Election Board rules.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate department staff and poll workers.
  • Oversee ballot preparation, voting equipment testing, polling place operations, absentee and advance voting, and election certification.
  • Prepare and manage the department budget and related reporting.
  • Serve as liaison with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office, county leadership, vendors, and the public.
  • Certify election results and serve as qualifying officer for candidates.
  • Ensure security, chain-of-custody, and confidentiality of election materials and voter data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of progressively responsible experience in elections administration, voter registration, or public administration.
  • Supervisory or management experience required.
  • Certification or ability to obtain required election official certifications under Georgia law.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during election cycles.
