Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Butts County is seeking a strategic, results-driven, and innovative leader to serve as our next Chief Financial Officer.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a critical leadership role in directing the County’s financial strategies and operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, accounting, accounts payable, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Develops and implements financial strategies aligned with County goals.
- Oversees budget preparation, capital requests, and investment of County funds.
- Manages accounting systems, payroll withholdings, accounts payable, and audits.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and forecasts, and supervision of the finance team.
- Ensure risk mitigation and compliance with financial laws and policies.
- Frequent interaction with department heads, elected officials, and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field.
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in government finance or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and public sector financial management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, and execute high-level financial strategies.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Preferred: CPA designation or master’s degree in related field
