ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

The Butts County Board of Commissioners will receive sealed bids on the General Contract for the construction of the project described as the Butts County Senior Center Addition.

The Project consists of an approximately 4600 sq. ft. one-story addition to the Butts County Senior Center located at 580 Ernest Biles Drive in Jackson, Georgia. The new addition is of wood framed construction with brick veneer and gabled wood truss roof structure with asphalt shingles to match the existing facility. The new facility includes a large event space separated by an operable partition, a small commercial kitchen with walk-in cooler and freezer, and accessible restrooms. The Work also includes associated mechanical and electrical work, sitework and utilities as well as extension of the existing service drive area to access the new addition. The design also includes the construction of a masonry firewall to separate the new addition from the existing facility.

Bids shall be on a lump sum basis; segregated Bids will not be accepted.

Liquidated damage requirements for this Project are a condition of the Contract and described in the Agreement Between Owner and Contractor.

Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws of Georgia governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the Work.

Bids will be received by Tina Lunsford, Procurement Director, until the bid date and time indicated, at the following location:

Bids received after the indicated time will not be accepted. Bids will thereafter be publicly opened and read aloud.

Bid Security in an amount not less than Five-Percent (5%) of the Base Bid shall accompany each Bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.

A Performance Bond and Payment Bond, each in the amount of One Hundred Ten Percent (110%) of the Contract Sum, will be required from the successful Bidder. Each Bid shall be accompanied with a signed certificate from a surety company acceptable to the Owner, stating that such surety will provide the Bidder, if awarded the Contract, with required bonds.

Modifications and withdrawal of Bids shall be in accordance with the Instruction to Bidders. Bids may not be withdrawn for a period of Ninety (90) days after date of receipt of Bids.

General Contractors are required to attend the pre-bid conference. Subcontractors and interested parties are invited to attend. Bidders’ questions submitted in writing and received at the Architect’s office no later than two business days before the pre-bid conference will be addressed during the meeting.

This Project is Federally assisted funded and must comply with requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations. Contractor and subcontractors are obligated to maintain Equal Employment Opportunity policies as well as comply with the Davis-Bacon Act, the Copeland Act, the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act, Byrd Anti-Lobbying Amendment and State of Georgia E-Verify law.

The Butts County Board of Commissioners reserves the right to waive informalities or irregularities in the Bids received and to reject Bids.
