Butts County Appraisal staff and Appraisal Contractors (GMASS) will be in the field conducting field inspections for commercial, new construction, residential, and land properties throughout Butts County. O.C.G.A. 48-5-264.1(a)

As a result of property assessment appeals, construction permits and commercial revaluation, there may be a need for the county staff and/or the county appraisal contractor to conduct an on-site inspection of properties in Butts County.

The reason for these inspections is to allow the Appraisers to update property records and review property characteristics on these properties. In addition, due to the number of field inspection projects currently underway, the ability to make appointments will be limited due to time constraints. The Board of Assessors will be eliminating interior inspections unless necessary on a case-by-case basis.

Chief Appraiser, Jerry Johnson, reported every precaution will be taken to maintain the right of privacy of all taxpayers, while keeping our employees safe during these field inspections.  Appraisers will have identification and be driving well marked county or GMASS Company, vehicles. OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION
Pursuant to Code Section 48-5-311 (e)(3)(B):
On May 29, 2023, the Butts County Board of Tax Assessors exceeded 3% total Value Under Appeal. This serves as notice that the Board of Tax Assessors has an additional 180 days in which to respond to appeals filed for assessment year 2024.
