Notes to Public & Rules of Procedure

The FY2022 Budget Proposal was completed on June 3rd, 2021. The proposal was sent to all members of the Board of Commissioners for review, as well as posted on the Butts County website and sent for advertisement to the Legal Organ of Butts County. On June 3rd, an official copy of the budget document was placed in the office of the Board of Commissioners for public review and has been on display since that date. All advertisements for the proposed millage and budget have been placed within the Legal Organ for publication on June 9, 16 and 23, 2021 and will have been advertised at least twice prior to the holding of any hearings.

This series of public hearings is being held in accordance with the statutory requirements of O.C.G.A. 48-5-32 and related laws of the State of Georgia. Two prior public hearings on the proposed millage rate were held on June 17, 2021 at 8:00 AM and at 6:00 PM. While every attempt is made to comply with local ordinances and guidelines, in the event of a conflict, the State law shall supersede all others related to budget, millage, hearings and all matters related to the same.

During this public hearing, the only topic for discussion shall be the proposed 2021 Millage Rate. Members of the public may speak for or against the proposed millage rate in the form of a statement. During public hearings on the proposed County millage rate, the only topic of discussion for the hearing shall be the proposed County M & O millage rate. Discussion on other topics such as the School Board Millage Levy or other Levy which is unrelated to this meeting, shall not be permitted and may be ruled out of order.
