NOTICE OF ELECTION
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF BUTTS COUNTY, GEORGIA:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 7th day of November, 2017 an election will be held at the regular polling places in all of the election districts of Butts County (the “County”) at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of the County for their determination the following question:

Shall the special 1 percent sales and use tax currently in effect in Butts County be continued for a period of time of six (6) years commencing upon the expiration of the sales and use tax currently in effect and for the raising of approximately $23,348,814 for the following purposes: (i) for Butts County, capital outlay projects, including courthouse and judicial office improvements, acquiring public safety equipment and public safety vehicles, road, sidewalk and bridge improvements, acquiring and upgrading equipment, and acquiring, repairing and improving facilities and paying any debt previously incurred therefore; (ii) for the City of Flovilla, capital outlay projects, including water system improvements, Public Works infrastructure improvements, Public Works vehicle acquisition, existing facilities and public safety improvements, and cemetery improvements; (iii) for the City of Jackson, capital outlay projects, including water and sewer system improvements, and road, street, sidewalk, parks, parking lot, recreation facilities, and cemetery improvements; (iv) for the City of Jenkinsburg, capital outlay projects including water system improvements, Public Works building improvements, vehicles and equipment, parks, recreational facilities and green space acquisition and improvements, street improvements, and acquire fire safety equipment and paying any debt incurred therefore; (v) for the Butts County, City of Flovilla, City of Jackson, and City of Jenkinsburg Water and Sewer Authority, expanding and improving its water and sewer system?
If imposition of the tax is approved by the voters, such vote shall also constitute approval of the issuance of general obligation debt of Butts County in the principal amount of up to $7,000,000 for the purpose of providing funds for a portion of the Butts County projects, repayable from the proceeds of the aforesaid sales and use tax.
Early Voting shall begin on Monday, October 16, 2017 and continued through Friday, November3. Election Day for those not voting early shall be Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Both early voting and election day voting will take place at the Butts County Administration Building.
