Election results from the 2016 Primary Elections are in and with many candidates running within the same parties, most of the local elections are now over for this year. The elections results are as follows:
District Attorney
Richard Milam (I) 2385 votes (63.65%)
Jonathan Adams 1362 votes (36.35%)
Although Milam won in Butts County, he did not win the overall circuit which includes Butts, Lamar and Monroe County. Adams will be sworn in as the new District Attorney in January. In the overall three counties, the breakdown was:

Tom Eads 180 votes (17.42%)
Syd Howell 166 votes (16.07%)

Since all candidates ran as Republicans with no Democrats running, Ken Rivers will be the new commissioner for District 1. Since he received over 50% of the vote on the first ballot, he will not go to a runoff election.
