The information stated below constitutes my official transmittal of “Received Bid Information” on County Bid Project 2017-04-001, also known as the “Request for Proposal to Purchase a Fire Engine”. The project was put out for bid proposals on 5 April 2017 and the closing date for receipt of bids was 5 May 2017 by 2:00 PM.
Two qualified bidders responded to the RFP and presented bid amounts in the following, with itemization. Included in the bid responses were the “turnkey” price for delivery of one top-mount pumper type fire engine as per the specifications advertised.
1). Fire Line of Winder, Georgia
Base Bid: $227,412.00
2). Fouts Brothers of Smyrna, Georgia
Base Bid: $246,318.00
It is my opinion that both companies met all required deadlines and submitted all bid information in the approved format as directed in the Invitation to Bid. The Invitation to Bid was advertised locally in the Jackson Progress Argus, published on the County website and placed on the Georgia Local Government Access website. Once the bid was advertised, the point of contact for any questions was the County Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chief.
This item is being reviewed by staff of the Fire Department and a recommendation will be forwarded to place this item on the docket for the June 12, 2017 Board of Commissioners meeting for either awarding a bid or rejecting all bids.
