A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF BUTTS COUNTY ESTABLISHING THE ANNUAL CALENDAR OF SCHEDULED REGULAR MEETINGS AND HOLIDAY CLOSINGS OF COUNTY OFFICES FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2020; TO ENABLE CERTAIN PROCESSES RELATED TO THE SCHEDULING OF MEETINGS AND THE CLOSURES OF OFFICES; TO AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN TO SIGN THE RESOLUTION; TO AUTHORIZE THE CLERK OF BUTTS COUNTY TO CERTIFY THE RESOLUTION AND ATTEST ALL DOCUMENTS; AND FOR OTHER RELATED AND LAWFUL PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, Butts County is a duly created and validly existing political subdivision of the State of Georgia under the Constitution and laws of the state of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Butts County Board of Commissioners, the duly elected governing body of the County is required to meet on a regular basis to discharge the affairs of the County and therefore has need to publish a calendar of the anticipated meeting dates for the ensuing calendar year, as well as to provide the authority for the rescheduling or cancellation of scheduled meetings, and;

WHEREAS, it has been determined that the County has anticipated and planned for the closure of certain business and administrative offices of the government in order to observe a number of generally accepted holidays that occur throughout the year, said holidays to be accounted for in the respective fiscal year budget which and which have been or will be accounted for in both the current fiscal year budget existing and the future planned budget, both of which will span the proposed calendar year, now therefore be it;

RESOLVED, that the County Commission hereby declares that the foregoing preamble and whereas provisions set forth hereinabove constitute, and shall be considered to be, substantive provisions of this Resolution and are hereby incorporated by reference into this provision and
through this Resolution, does hereby create and establish the following calendar of scheduled board meetings and County holidays, as follows:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County may, depending on any number of exigencies that may occur during the calendar year, elect to reschedule any meeting; to combine any meeting with another meeting; or to cancel a meeting in its entirety, provided that all notices and requirements are met in accordance with Georgia law, and vests the responsibility for making this decision with the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners or the Vice Chairman in the absence of the Chairman, and;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners reserves the right to modify or change holidays scheduled; to substitute other holidays for scheduled ones; to award additional holidays or to reduce the number of holidays, depending on the needs of the County, and;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners vests the responsibility for determining unscheduled closures of County offices due to a serious threat of or the actual occurrence of severe weather that has the potential to put employees or facilities at risk with the County Administrator or his/her designee, after consultation with the Chairman of the Board, and;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption by the Butts County Board of Commissioners and that any and all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict with this Resolution shall be, and they, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed, and;

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Board authorizes the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners to sign this Resolution on their behalf and to authorize the Clerk of Butts County to attest all signatures and spread this resolution upon the minutes of the Board of Commissioners.
