Mechanic IV

Butts County Public Works is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanic IV to join our team! If you have experience working with vehicles, heavy equipment, and enjoy keeping essential county operations moving, this is the job for you.

The Public Works Mechanic IV is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a wide range of County vehicles and heavy equipment from automobiles and trucks to bulldozers, motor graders, tractors, and more. This role helps ensure our fleet is safe, reliable, and ready to serve the community.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of vehicle/heavy equipment repair & maintenance. Knowledge of road construction and maintenance practices. Ability to identify problems and implement solutions. Proficient in using diagnostic tools and specialized repair equipment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to safety and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent with additional specialized training
• 3-4 years of related experience
• ASE certification and the ability to obtain a valid Georgia CDL
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
