The Butts County Commissioner’s Office on behalf of the citizens of the county and the Butts County Sheriff’s Office have committed $5000.00 each towards a reward fund that is being offered for information that leads to the apprehension and arrest of two inmates wanted in connection with the killing of two State Correctional Officers on June 13th.

Prisoners Donnie Russell Rowe and Ricky Dubose were on a state corrections bus with 31 other inmates Tuesday morning when the pair got out of a secured rear section of the bus, officials said.
They disarmed Officers Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue while the bus was on State Route 16 between Eatonton and Sparta. At least one of the prisoners shot and killed both officers, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Offices, and then the two disappeared. They first hijacked a Honda Civic and fled the scene, later stealing another vehicle described as a white Ford F250 pickup truck with silver tool boxes on both side rails. The truck’s license plate is BCX-5372. Anyone having information is asked to immediately call 9-1-1.
“Our Board of Commissioners and our Sheriff’s Office are committed to helping in the effort to find the individuals responsible for this terrible tragedy” said the County Office of Government Relations spokesperson Michael Brewer on Wednesday. “It is hoped that by combining our resources with others in this region, that information leading to their arrest will be forthcoming and justice can be had for these Correctional Officers that were taken from their families and coworkers”.
The Butts County Sheriff’s Office stressed that “There are no leads, evidence or speculation that these inmates have been or are in Butts County”.
As of this writing, the reward being offered is $90,000 and may increase. Again, if you see these subjects or the described vehicle, do not approach either…call 911 immediately.
