General Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Board of Directors and with minimal supervision and in a professional manner, manage the operations of the Chamber of Commerce, accurately complete and update administrative functions. The Executive Director responsibilities include accurate recording and billing of Chamber members, communicating with Chamber members, potential members, business owners and their employees, residents, city personnel, media, civic and church organizations. The Executive Director is responsible for upholding the Chamber bylaws, government regulations and policies established by the Board of Directors. Effective communication is essential in promoting and maintaining a positive relationship with everyone.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Foster, maintain and promote membership in the Chamber of Commerce
Accurately record and bill Chamber members
Oversee multiple streams of income and expenditures involving multiple bank accounts owned by the Chamber
Establish programs for membership recruitment and retention-grow the membership base
Regularly schedule membership visits-a once yearly in-person contact with each member is expected
Maintain membership database including contact information and date joined
Work with other organizations (ie, Partners for Smart Growth, Butts County IDA, etc.) to promote Butts County
Work with elected officials and other Butts County stakeholders to promote community internally and externally
Meet annual benchmarks as set by Butts County Chamber Board of Directors
Work to recruit new industry and retain existing industry in Butts County
Welcome new residents to Butts County with Chamber information
Plan and promote Chamber of Commerce events

Gather input from the business community and the Board of Directors to craft a strategic plan that reflects the annual priorities of the Chamber
Refine and update mission and vision of the Butts County Chamber of Commerce with member and community stakeholder input
Maintain liaison with existing member businesses and establish communications with new businesses and/or prospective members
Effectively communicate with the Board of Directors and membership via Constant Contact
Seek out and receive additional ideas for sources of income
Maintain a close relationship with City Officials, County Officials and State Representative and Senators
Inform the media of Chamber events and noteworthy news to promote the Chamber. Issue press releases and letters to the local press, business clients and public officials
Maintain and update Butts County Chamber of Commerce website

Organize and implement activities of the Chamber, e.g., Chamber Banquet, Gold Tournament, Jackson Alive Family Festival/Halloween on Second Street, Christmas Parade
Organize monthly Board meetings and provide the Agenda, Financials, Monthly Report of Activities, and whatever else is pertinent.
Schedule and/or attend meetings of various groups within the business community and report involvement/developments to the Board
Recommend to the Board improvement of activities, effectiveness and operation of the organization; bring attention to trends, incidents, actions and events that affect the community and the Chamber membership

Represent the Chamber and its Board of Directors and its official spokesperson and maintain adequate visibility for the voice of business,
Work with organizations in the community to promote Butts County
Act as an agent of support and assistance with economic development agencies and the private sector.
Manage the annual budget
Oversee the maintenance of the Chamber website
Coordinate and assist the Board in the design and execution of projects and events to enhance the community and encourage trade and tourism in the County
Coordinate ribbon cuttings, open houses and other chamber events
Coordinate elections of Board members and make recommendations to fill vacant positions
Assist the President in representing the Chamber before civic and political bodies and maintain a continuing liaison with such groups, serving as the face of the Chamber, participating in community events, networking and prospecting for members
