Manufacturing company locates 50 jobs to Jackson

Jackson, GA – Today, The Development Authority of Butts County, together with the Georgia Department of Economic Development announce InterGroup International’s plans to locate in Butts County and with it a $5 million investment and up to 50 jobs.

The company has steadily grown in the southeast region and Butts County’s proximity to Atlanta and to InterGroup’s customers in surrounding states makes this location an advantage to the company. InterGroup International CEO, Neil Gloger led the move to Butts County. He said, “More and more of our customer base has located in the southeast, and Jackson is a convenient location for us to do business with them. Butts County has a pro-business attitude and shown us they wanted us to be here, other locations we looked at didn’t show us the same hospitality as Butts County.”

Without companies like Intergroup International, this plastic would end up in landfills, resulting in more pollution.

“We have spent countless hours working to make Butts County the place for InterGroup International to locate. They are creating quality green jobs that will have a great impact on our community. We are very excited they chose Butts County and look forward to a great working relationship with them in the future,” Bryan Bush, chairman of the Development Authority of Butts County said.

The company expects to employ about 50 workers. The company will add a small number of jobs immediately and increase new job creation as production increases. The goal is to reach full production capacity by the end of 2013. While the company participates in recycling, only plastic waste from industrial suppliers will be accepted. Individuals may not bring household plastic products for recycling.

The Ohio-based company officially became owner of the site off of GA Hwy. 42 N. in early October. The 33 acre site has several existing buildings and is adjacent to rail access. The new company will occupy the larger building, which has 147,000 square feet. A Better Pallet Company leased a 60,000 square foot building earlier this year from HD Supply, the previous owner. InterGroup International plans to maintain the lease agreement the previous owner had with the pallet company. The site, located at 109 Bunch Road, Jackson, GA, has remained unoccupied for several years. Renovation work will be done to update the building for the new use.

“It’s a great honor to be a part of the team the Development Authority brought together. They made sure the right people were at the table with the resources we needed to locate this company,” Roger McDaniel, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners said. “I’m certain InterGroup International will be an outstanding corporate citizen for many years to come.”
