Rebecca “Becky” Pitts, Associate Magistrate Judge of Butts County, announces her intent to qualify in the 2012 Election for Chief Magistrate of Butts County. Pitts was appointed Associate Magistrate by Chief Magistrate Gigi Leverette Hoard on January 1, 2005 and is currently serving her eighth year as full time Associate Judge in the Butts County Magistrate Court. Prior to her appointment, Pitts had six years of experience in the legal field. Judge Pitts is a member of the Council of Magistrate Court Judges and has maintained certification and continuing judicial education credits during her tenure. She has extensive experience presiding on the bench for both civil and criminal cases and is dedicated to continue serving in a fair and impartial manner.
A lifelong resident of Butts County, Pitts is the daughter of Eddy Johnston and retiring Probate Judge Vicki W. Johnston, and the granddaughter of the late Stacer W. Washington and Louise Bohannan Washington of the Worthville Community. She is married to Chris Pitts who is employed as a mechanic with Butts County. They have four daughters, one in daycare and three in Butts County Public Schools. Both Chris and Becky Pitts are active members of Worthville Baptist Church and teach youth Sunday School and devotional classes.
