Butts County, Georgia (Population 23,817), a diverse and growing county located 40 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles north of Macon along the busiest interstate corridor in Georgia is seeking an experienced individual with proven executive abilities for the position of County Administrator. The position serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the county and oversees a government made up of 19 agencies and departments with a workforce of 230 full time positions and a $23.3m total budget.

Billed as “Georgia’s Outdoor Capitol”, Butts County boasts two state parks, Indian Springs and portions of High Falls, as well as Jackson Lake, Dauset Trails Nature Center and miles of outdoor hiking and mountain biking trails. The Ocmulgee River, which begins in Butts County, offers natural, unspoiled river vistas for canoeing and kayaking for much of the year. Residents will find historic venues, great dining opportunities and amenities, both locally and in the large urban areas that are close by.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable leadership and executive experience in either the public or private sector with a balanced skill set which compliments the position of County Administrator. Educational requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably supplemented by a Master’s degree with at least 10 years of management experience, preferably at a Department Head level or higher, or a combination of education, experience, skills and abilities which meet the requisite requirements of the position.
